Rebuilding a smile…
“Since I was a teenager, I had a problem with short teeth. I was diagnosed with bruxism (grinding) and it had gotten to the point that the nerves were going to be disrupted. The way my jaw was set, my bite, the years of grinding and the condition of the teeth made it a very difficult case to correct. Many of the dentists I had met with were not sure what to do; consequently nothing was ever done. After 15 years and several dentists, Dr. Titensor presented a plan of action that would give me a new smile in stages. My bite was first built back up so it could function correctly, every tooth was crowned and a bridge was built where I had some missing teeth. Now my bite fits the way it is supposed to and I am proud of my smile. Also, I wear a small night guard while I am sleeping to avoid grinding down my new teeth and protect my investment.”

“I thought I had chipped my canine tooth but apparently I had been wearing it down, because my bite was off. When I met with Dr. Titensor, I found out that my bottom teeth were also wearing down. My teeth were small and yellow – even after whitening. The first thing that was done to improve the appearance of my smile was gum recontouring. This suddenly revealed more of my tooth and at the same time aesthetically reduced the appearance of my gums. I decided to have eight porcelain veneers placed on my top teeth. This not only did away with a crooked front tooth, but also the veneers were designed to improve how my teeth were positioned and met when I chewed. An investment in me…
“Growing up, my two sisters wore braces and I didn’t. My teeth were not as crooked as theirs, so I had to live with my crooked teeth. I never smiled great big smiles because of how my bottom teeth looked. I just wasn’t really confident with my smile. I didn’t realize how much of a difference this made in my life until I started looked at old photographs. I would never really open my mouth to smile. A friend of mine has porcelain veneers and she has a beautiful smile; I always thought they were her natural teeth. I was more worried about my top teeth because these are the ones people see when you smile. When I met with Dr. Titensor he first wanted to know what I did for a living. He wanted me to consider having my bottom teeth fixed because my job is all about training and being in front of people. I am constantly talking and so my bottom teeth are seen when I speak.
Three weeks prior to my veneers, I had my teeth whitened so that the veneers would match my natural teeth. I made the decision to have eight porcelain veneers on the top and six on the bottom. I had no idea that it would only take two visits to the dentist to have porcelain veneers. I just thought it would take a long time to get it done, that it was going to hurt, that they would feel horrible. After I got them on, I found that I was totally wrong about my assumptions. It was great. It was absolutely fantastic. My two sisters who wore braces are now jealous because of my gorgeous smile. This is an investment that I will enjoy for the rest of my life.”

“When I was a young girl I didn’t take care of my teeth at all. I only went to the dentist when I had a toothache and I developed a terrible fear of dentists. My husband had his smile fixed first and I was still waiting because of my fear. Then I was hit head-on by a bicycle and four of my teeth, in the front, were fractured.
